Hex5 Digital is seeking an Accessibility Compliance Specialist with strong audit and compliance documentation experience to support accessibility assessments, remediation validation, and the development of Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs / VPATs) for WordPress-based websites serving nonprofit and government-adjacent organizations.
This role is best suited for an experienced accessibility professional who has led or contributed to formal audits and understands how to document findings in a defensible, standards-aligned manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support formal accessibility audits against Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA
- Document findings with clear severity, impact, and standards mapping
- Develop and/or contribute to Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs / VPATs)
- Provide clear, actionable remediation guidance to developers and content editors
- Validate remediation through regression testing and re-audit activities
- Support periodic compliance reviews and post-update accessibility checks
- Contribute to audit-ready documentation suitable for compliance, governance, and oversight
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience conducting formal accessibility audits
- Direct experience authoring or materially contributing to ACRs / VPATs
- Strong working knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA
- Experience mapping WCAG success criteria to Section 508 requirements
- Hands-on experience with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, keyboard-only navigation)
- Proficiency with accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, ANDI) and manual testing methods
- Strong written documentation skills with attention to audit defensibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience auditing WordPress or CMS-based websites
- Experience supporting government, nonprofit, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with accessibility governance, remediation planning, and compliance reporting
- Experience participating in third-party or independent accessibility reviews
Location & Eligibility Requirements
- Candidates must be based in the United States
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
- Must be eligible to support U.S. government or government-adjacent contracts
- DMV-based candidates (Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Northern Virginia) are strongly preferred due to logistical coordination and potential in-person collaboration needs
- Highly qualified remote candidates within the United States may also be considered
Engagement Notes
- This role is not expected to be full-time and will be engaged on an as-needed, project-based basis
- Work will be scheduled in defined audit, remediation validation, and reporting cycles
- Collaboration will be primarily with WordPress engineers and account leadership
- All work will follow established security, access, and governance controls
