Hex5 Digital is seeking a Senior Content Strategist to support digital transformation, website modernization, and content governance initiatives for nonprofit, commercial, and government-adjacent organizations.
This role is best suited for an experienced content professional who understands how to align messaging, structure, and governance with organizational goals. The ideal candidate can lead content audits, define information architecture in collaboration with UX and design teams, and establish sustainable content models that improve clarity, usability, and mission impact.
Lead content strategy initiatives across website redesigns and digital modernization efforts
Conduct comprehensive content audits and gap analyses
Define content models, taxonomies, and governance frameworks
Collaborate with UX designers to align content structure with user journeys and navigation
Develop messaging frameworks aligned to organizational mission and business objectives
Create and maintain editorial guidelines, voice and tone standards, and style guides
Partner with designers and developers to ensure content integrity during implementation
Support CMS migrations and content restructuring efforts (including WordPress environments)
Provide structured recommendations for content governance and lifecycle management
Contribute to proposal development and capability positioning as needed
Demonstrated experience leading content strategy engagements
Strong portfolio or case studies reflecting website content transformations
Experience conducting content audits and developing structured documentation
Strong understanding of information architecture and user-centered design principles
Experience collaborating with UX, design, and engineering teams
Excellent writing, editing, and documentation skills
Ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, accessible content
Experience working within CMS platforms
Experience supporting government, nonprofit, or regulated environments
Familiarity with accessibility-informed content practices (plain language, semantic structure, inclusive writing)
Experience developing content governance frameworks
Experience supporting WordPress-based websites
Experience participating in digital transformation or modernization initiatives
Experience contributing to proposals or thought leadership materials
Candidates must be based in the United States or India
Must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence
Must be eligible to support U.S. government or government-adjacent contracts
DMV-based U.S. candidates (Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Northern Virginia) are strongly preferred due to logistical coordination and potential in-person collaboration needs
